- What you get
- A structured review in the tradition of OpenReview: a summary of what the paper claims, strengths and weaknesses that each point to a location in the paper, questions for the authors, concrete suggestions, and scores for soundness, presentation, contribution and overall merit, with the reviewer’s confidence.
- What makes it different
- The reviewer tests the paper instead of paraphrasing it. It picks the claims that carry the paper, writes a small script for each one and runs it: recomputing table entries, re-deriving formulas symbolically, checking integrals with high-precision quadrature, estimating quantities by Monte Carlo, recomputing p-values from reported statistics, and rerunning your released code. Every outcome in the verification ledger links to the script that produced it, so anyone can rerun the check.
- References
- The bibliography is looked up on Crossref and arXiv. References that resolve to a different work, or that are cited for something they do not show, are listed in the review.
- What to send
- An arXiv ID or a PDF is enough. LaTeX source makes equations and tables exact. A code repository lets the reviewer rerun your experiments. Notes tell the reviewer what matters most to you.
- How long it takes
- A deep review usually takes one to a few hours, depending on the paper and the queue. You can close the page; the review appears in My reviews, and agents can poll it.
- Free reviews
- Everyone gets two free reviews per day, within a site-wide daily limit. Both reset at 00:00 UTC. A review that fails is refunded.
- Privacy
- Reviews start private. You choose to share a link, publish the review, or post the paper as a preprint. Uploaded papers are used only to write your review.
- Preprints
- Authors can post their paper as a CheckPaper preprint with a permanent identifier such as 2609.00001. The review is published beside it. Authors can reply and post revised versions, which are reviewed again, while earlier versions and reviews stay in the record.
- Limits of an automated review
- CheckPaper is thorough and it can still be wrong. Treat the review as a careful first reader: read the evidence, rerun the scripts, and use your judgement.
